Jimmy D. Byrd

The Scott County Trustee collects the county's property taxes, administers the Property Tax Relief Program, and accounts for and disburses county funds including proper apportionment and determination of fund availability. The Trustee also invests temporarily idle county funds and keeps a fair and regular account of all the money received. Tax notices are mailed at the beginning of October and become delinquent March 1st of each year.

About Jimmy D. Byrd:

Jimmy D. Byrd was born March 14, 1954 in Scott County, Tennessee. He graduated from Norma High School in 1971. He was elected in 1998 and reelected to his second term in 2002. In 2000 he was awarded the designation of Certified Public Administrator by The University of Tennessee Institute for Public Service. In 2004 he was inducted as the East Tennessee Trustee's Association Trustee of the Year. In 2004 he was elected as the vice president of the East Tennessee Trustee's Association. He is married to Mary Lois Byrd. They have two daughters, Sara and Jessica Byrd. Both are currently attending Scott High School.
